I loved this and feel every word of it! Please know, though, that moms who coparent don’t detach, either. We feel the push-pull of wanting the time to re-discover ourselves and also that pain of being away from our child, and the weekends apart from them are still spent doing things for them.

Thank you so much for pointing this out! I can absolutely imagine how hard it must be on weekends / holidays etc and how connected you still feel... And let's face it, any ambition we have is ultimately in service of making a better life for them as well.

It’s so true. And what you said about figuring out who we are as people (and moms) completely resonated with me (and a current topic in therapy :/). Thank you for the kind words!

"I occasionally catch myself wondering who I even am outside of it. Am I still an interesting person? A thinker? A writer? One who is capable of contributing something more meaningful than a thousand-word essay on her own mental turmoil?" SAME, MARINA, SAME. So grateful to read your words that always, without fail, make me feel less alone.

Thank you so much Elin!! It genuinely means a lot to feel like these posts resonate with fellow "stuck in the hamster wheel yet still ambitious" moms! (I love your writing, on that note!) I keep telling myself how transient it all is and how they will grow up one day and we will have all the time in the world, but there is a certain desire to activate that never ceases..
